TMJ Disorders include numorous symptoms from migrains to poor facial symmetry.

13 year old presented with inability to open her mouth more than 34 mm, significant jaw joint pain, significant muscle pain and could not chew her food. She wanted relief of pain and braces, however the Orthodontist wanted the TMJ resolved first.

Neuromuscular positioning of her mandible using ULF-TENS, jaw tracking, electromyography, Sonography, and esthetics was accomplished.
Temporary treatment consisted of building the lower teeth taller with composite filling material. After two months full range of motion had not been achieved and a night time upper positioner was placed. Full range of motion was achieved within 4 weeks.
Temporary lower fillings will be removed sequentially as orthodontics moves the teeth into this Neuromusuclar Physiologic position.
CASE B
A profile view helps show jaw relationship, airway, and muscle strain. By positioning the jaw in a neuromuscular relaxed position, the facial features look more relaxed and youthful.
This first picture is in the patient's (CR) seated condylar position with the patient biting gently on their teeth.

This second picture is in the patient's neuromuscular relaxed position. This second picture is with the patient biting gently in her neuromuscular position.
CASE C
Patient presented with a loose bridge. All teeth had been restored in stages over the last 11 years. After each group of teeth were treated shoulder pain had increased. First treated were the lower anterior teeth 11 years earlier. The most recent were the lower left teeth2 1/2 years ago. Shoulder pain slowly became so intense hospital emergency treatment of steroid and cortisone which shots were received. Hospital treatment helped for several hours.
Neuromuscular positioning of the jaw relaxed the muscles which reduced the shoulder pain by over 90%. Shoulder and head posture improved with more relaxed muscles.

Note the first picture her head is tilted to her right due to muscle hypertonicity. In the second picture her head is more errect and centered on her shoulders.
By relaxing the muscles of mastication in the head, neck and shoulder muscles do not have to compensate for the fatigued head muscles.
